If I could choose only one make-up product to have with me on a deserted island, it would be my trusty little lipstick.
I honestly don’t know how I could go a day without wearing any! Even on a “no make-up” day, I make sure I’ve got some lipstick on. I guess it’s cause, one, I’m really pale and so if I don’t wear lipstick, I look dead and two, I just love how lipstick color can affect/change your whole look just like that.

For this post, I am going to be showing you guys 9 different shades of lipstick and how to to rock ’em! Note: My make-up for this whole post is an ‘everyday make-up’ look and so I kept everything natural and light. I chose to do everyday make-up because I want to show you guys that you can wear these shades any time of the day! I mean, if you can work it, why not? Also, I think it’s fun experimenting with different colored lipsticks everyday without needing your face to be fully made with make-up. Plus, I’m saving the full on make-up look for another post coming soon π
BUT before we get to the make-up part, let’s first talk about lip care because I think thisΒ is very important.
I grew up with naturally chapped lips (so sad). I think it’s because I never drank enough water? And so ya’ll better make sure you hydrate to have nice soft lips. Anyway because of that, it’s always a challenge for me to wear lipstick, especially matte ones cause there are times when my lips are so dry and so they look terrible (ugh it’s so frustrating).
I, later on, realized that I needed to take special care of my lips considering the problems I have. So this is what I started to do:
1. HYDRATE
Drinking lots of water actually makes your lips look so much better. When you’re hydrated, your lips won’t be chapped. Try it! I swear it works!
2. EXFOLIATE
I exfoliate my lips at least three times a week with SARA HAPP Brown Sugar Lip Scrub. This helps me get rid of the dry skin and keeps my lips super smooth!
3. MOISTURIZE
Do you know what I hate? When I look for my lip balm in my bag and I realize I’ve forgotten it. It’s the worst feeling when I have to bear with chapped lips the whole day!Β When this happens, I usually go to the supermarket to find cheap lip balm because I cannot. I repeat, I CANNOT spend a whole day with chapped lips. And so keep this in your everyday make-up bag! Bring lip balm everywhere you go!!!
For my lip balm, I use Papaw! It’s from Australia. And it’s really affordable! When I went to Australia, I made sure to buy a lot! What makes it great is that it’s actually not just lip balm, you can use it to treat different things but the thing is itΒ really moisturizes my lips and so I use it as my trusty balm.
4. LIP SLEEPING PACK
I got into this recently actually. About 6 months ago, I heard about Laneige and how everyone loved it. I saw this lip product and I was like… What is this??? I decided to buy it because of my chapped lips problem and voila it has done wonders for me!!! I put it on at night and I wake up with smooth, soft, moisturized lips! This Lip Sleeping Pack is a bit pricey but for all of you who suffer with the same problem I do, it is SO worth it.
Okay, now that we’re done with lip care, we can move on to the main feature of this post.
Here are 9 lipstick shades & how to rock each one!
“THE NUDES”
I am nude girl. I know that sounds weird but it’s true, for lipsticks at least.
Nude colors are my go-to lipstick shades. When I’m lazy to go through my lipstick collection, I just grab a nude lippie and head out the door! Recently, my fave has been NYX Soft Matte Cream in LONDON which is why I am going to start with this one!
NYX Soft Matte Cream in LONDON

As you can see, it looks like it’s been used a lot… which it has tbh. Like I said, this is my go-to lipstick. Since I’m pretty fair, nude shades look a bit more saturated on me which I really like. Even if I go with a nude shade, the color still pops.
For this, I went with a natural look. I used light pink & brown eyeshadow and topped it off with some super light gold. For my blush, I used a light orange/peach tone to keep the look simple andΒ sweet

Make-up used: Foundation –Β Maybelline Fit Me Matte (120), Concealer – Revlon Colorstay (fair), Eyebrows – K-Palette Eyebrow Powder (Light Brown), Eyeliner – Revlon Colorstay (black), Mascara – Tarte Lights Camera Lashes, Eyeshadow – Tartelette Amazonian Clay Palette & Juvia Nubian 2 Palette, Blush – Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush (blissful), Lipstick – NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (London)

TARTEIST Glossy Lip Paint in OBVI

This is one of my other go-to nude lipsticks!!! This is more of a gloss though and so it doesn’t have a matte finish. I personally prefer matte but sometimes, I like to play around a bit and so this is my go-to glossy lip paint cause it’s very light pink and natural. This is Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint in shade OBVI!
For this look, I stuck to the natural everyday make-up look. Compared to the blush I used for the first look, I used one that’s more pink since my lips have a pinkier shade. As for the eyes, I kept it simple again with pink and rose shades from the Tartelette Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette.
***Note: I forgot to swatch NYX and I only started swatching now… hence the lack of this kind of picture above hahaha***

Β Colourpop Lippe Stix in BRINK

When the Colourpop hype first started, this was the first thing I bought. I really like how it really saturates my lips but the pink is still pretty light. And it’s not drying!!! So that’s a plus! It’s not too glossy and not too matte.
Again, my make-up is very light. I like the “no-makeup make-up look” whenever I’m wearing nude/light pink lipstick. It just seems very simple and classy to me. For my everyday look, I tend to focus on my brows, cheeksΒ and lashes, that way, IΒ never look “too made up”.

Β “GIVE ME SOME COLOR”
I’m not usually a ‘color’ type of girl. I get shy to pull off certain shades hahaha I would always go with some nude lipstick BUT when I’m in the mood to play around and try out different colors, I always have a fun time doing it! For this, I chose 3 shades: super pink, lavender and dark orange!
JEFFREE STAR Velour Liquid Lipstick in DOLL PARTS

This is some poppin’ pink liquid lipstick… as in Katy Perry POPPIN’. Hahaha since my skin is pretty fair, this color really pops! And soΒ this is a lipstick I would wear if I were feeling tired but still wanna look alive and playful!
For this look, I decided to play around a bit! For my eyes, I used my Morphe 35W palette. I used pink shades! But still kept it light! For my blush, I used Makeup Revolution’s Sugar n’ Spice Blush paletteΒ because I wanted my blush to compliment my lips and so I chose the pinkest shade! Be careful not to overdo it though! You can go all pink without overdoing your whole look!

Make-up used: Foundation –Β Maybelline Fit Me Matte (120), Concealer – Revlon Colorstay (fair), Eyebrows – K-Palette Eyebrow Powder (Light Brown), Eyeliner – Revlon Colorstay (black), Mascara – Tarte Lights Camera Lashes, Eyeshadow – Morphe 35W, Blush/Highlight – Makeup Revolution Blush Palette (Sugar n’ Spice), Lipstick – Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick (Doll Parts)

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in REQUIEM

Talk about bringing out the purple!!! This liquid lipstick is crazy purple!!! It was my first time to try it and a purple lippie in general and so I was surprised at how purple it was. I don’t think I’ll be using this much though because purple shades don’t really look good on me. I don’t know if it’s cause I’m light or pale? They just make me look really down and ‘faded’. But anyway, I still had fun doing this look! Also just a note: this lipstick is truly everlasting. It took me forever to wipe it all off. Even when I was wiping it off my arm, it took so much effort!! And so kudos to you Kat Von D, it is truly everlasting.
For this look, I went with a rosier shade of pink/purple for my eyes. As for my blush, I went to purple side to match my lips but I still kept it light! Again, for this post, I want to showcase looks that can be used everyday and so most of my make-up looks here are very natural and light.

Make-up used: Foundation –Β Maybelline Fit Me Matte (120), Concealer – Revlon Colorstay (fair), Eyebrows – K-Palette Eyebrow Powder (Light Brown), Eyeliner – Revlon Colorstay (black), Mascara – Tarte Lights Camera Lashes, Eyeshadow – Tartelette Amazonian Clay Palette, Blush/Highlight – Makeup Revolution Blush Palette (Sugar n’ Spice), Lipstick – Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick (Requiem)

Kylie Mini Matte Liquid Lipstick inΒ GINGER

I don’t really do dark shades but this seems to really work for me. At first I was afraid (I was petrified… lol jk ok bye) that it wouldn’t look good on me cause it’s kinda darkΒ but when I put it on, I saw that it had a nice dark orange shade.
For this look, I used Juvia’s Place Nubian 2 Palette. It has a super nice shade of orange thatΒ I wanted to try out. And so this was the perfect time to do so! Again, I kept it light and classy but I darkened my eyeliner and mascara just a bit for this look. Also, I kept my cheeks light and peach!
Usually when I wear dark shades like this one, I let my lips do all the talking, meaning, I don’t wear much face make-up and instead focus on the lips and let them shine!

“NIGHT TIME, PARTY TIME!”
Now we move on to the shades I like to call, “night time, party time”! These are the shades I would only wear at night or at a party or a concert or an event! BUT if you guys prefer to wear these colors during the day then go ahead and rock ’em! It’s just that for me, these colors are a bit too ‘loud’ and so I’m shy to wear them like to the mall or something hahaha
For these last few looks, I darkened my eyes a bit more so that I could get into that “night time, party time” mood! My make-up is still pretty light, like my face isn’t fully made and so this could actually still be a “day thing” if it works for you!
Colourpop Ultra Metallic in MAN EATER

I LOVE THIS. I don’t wear it all the time but I freaking love this!!! I never thought I would like wearingΒ something shiny and glittery but I tried it one time for my Thanksgiving dinner and I really liked how it looked. At first you may think that it may look “too much” but it’s actually really subtle and sweet-looking. Also, it is not drying at all! This is coming from a girl who has dry lips… and this is coloupop. And so that means something! And look at that glow!!!
For this look, I kept it natural still. Just added a bit of darker eyeliner and more mascara. I used my LORAC Pro Palette for this look and some peach color for blush.

Make-up used: Foundation –Β Maybelline Fit Me Matte (120), Concealer – Revlon Colorstay (fair), Eyebrows – K-Palette Eyebrow Powder (Light Brown), Eyeliner – Revlon Colorstay (black), Mascara – Tarte Lights Camera Lashes, Eyeshadow – LORAC Pro Palette, Blush – Tarte Amazonian Clay Palette (blissful), Lipstick – Colourpop Ultra Mettalic (Man Eater)

Too Faced Melted Matte in LADY BALLS

Lips as red as rose.
That’s how I would describe this liquid lipstick. I like the color red but I prefer dark red tbh. When it comes to bright red, I tend to stay away because I don’t feel super comfortable wearing it yet hahaha unless I’m going out at night (thus it’s in this group). I am super jealous of those people who can rock red lips any time of the day.
I decided to get this shade because I wanted to try it out, wearing really red lipstick. It’s still something I’m getting used to but for sure I am enjoying the “experimentation process” with the different looks and all. For this, I added a little red on my cheeks and I made my eye shadow darker, almost a smokey eye but not quite because again, I’m trying to keep it as natural as possible.

NYX Lingerie in BEAUTY MARK

Last but definitely not the least, the darkest shade of them all: NYX Lingerie in Beauty Mark!
Lately, these really dark shades have been the “in thing”. Even the color black!!! Who knew that black would eventually become a lipstick color??? Hahaha I haven’t tried it yet but maybe soon, I will, just for fun! For this look, instead of focusing on the cheeks, I focused on my eyes. I did a bit of a smokey eye look but kept it simple with light brown, dark brown and gold shades. When it comes to SUPER dark colors, I make sure to add a bit more make-up on my face so that I don’t look like I’m “over-doing” it with my lipstick but hey, that’s just me.

Make-up used: Foundation –Β Maybelline Fit Me Matte (120), Concealer – Revlon Colorstay (fair), Eyebrows – K-Palette Eyebrow Powder (Light Brown), Eyeliner – Revlon Colorstay (black), Mascara – Tarte Lights Camera Lashes, Eyeshadow – NAKED 1 Palette, Blush – Tarte Amazonian Clay Palette (blissful), Lipstick – NYX Lingerie (Beauty Mark)

There you have it! 9 lipstick shades and how to rock ’em! But before I end my post, here are a few more tips for you guys: one, always moisturize your lips before wearing any matte lipstick especially when it comes to Colourpop and Kylie cause these liquid lipsticks are very drying! Two, when in doubt, go nude! Nude lipsticks go with absolutely anything and so if you’re feeling lazy or you’re just in your sweats heading to the mall, go nude. Three, confidence is key to rocking great lipstick shades! Wear whatever shade you want, whenever you want! π

Next post is on skincare so stay tuned!!! π
Til the next one!
