Makeup Art: Flowers, the Sky and the Sea 💜

Hi guys! So I’m back again with ANOTHER makeup shoot 🌸

If you noticed, the title of this blog post has the word ‘art’ in it. That’s because to do these makeup looks, I used my ‘artsy side’. I love to paint. My favorite kind of paint is acrylic. It’s been an interest of mine since I was in HS. If you came into my room, the first thing you would notice are the bunch of canvases displayed all around. These are paintings I’ve done since I was 14 years old.

For this shoot, I wanted a makeup x painting kind of look. And so I decided to focus on two things: the eyes and the lips. Good thing my model, Ylo has both beautiful eyes and lips (hehe love u). She’s my good friend and she’s beautiful! Check out her IG here! 🙂

I did two looks for this shoot, a floral makeup look & a sky and sea makeup look. Hope you guys like them! All photos were taken and processed by me 🌸

For the first look, I did a ‘floral summary kind of look’. For her eyeshadow base, I used Juvia’s Nubian Palette. I used the light bronze and glittery orange shade. I darkened her crease with the Naked Basics Palette. For her liner, I used my metallic green face paint stick and for the liner under her eye I used an orange metallic color. The flowers on her eyes were done using face paint and a super tiny paint brush. It was really hard to do the flowers because the face paint was slippery and so sometimes it wouldnt stay and so I had to really use a lot of paint. To finish up this look, I used Revlon’s Crimson lipstick for her lips! It just complements her eye makeup beautifully! (Also look at her skin color! It’s GORGEOUS! Perfect for this look 🌞)

For the second look, I used cool tones and so yes, super opposite of the first look. I wanted to paint (symbolically) the sky and sea on her face. It was quite difficult. But in the end, the look worked. I couldn’t help but sing “how far I’ll go” while doing this because seriously… “see the line where the sky meets the sea, it calls meeee”! 🌊

For this look, I really played around. I didn’t have a solid plan when I started. I just had an idea that I wanted there to be some sort of sea and sky. For her eyeshadow base, I used my Pro 28 Rainbow Metallics eyeshadow palette! The blue colors are sooo pretty! I used three shades of blue: sky blue, dark blue and blue green. I also used Juvia’s Nubian Palette for this certain shade of dark blue. For the clouds on her eyes, I used white face paint. The clouds are so cute hahahaha and then I finished up her eyes by adding blue glitter. I always freak out when I work with glitter cause it gets everywhere but it just completes the look and so I had to use it! For her lips, I used the metallic blue face paint stick and added glitters for one half and white face paint + blue face paint for the other half. It supposed to represent the deep part of the sea (the dark side) and the shore (the light side).

All in all, it wasn’t an easy look to do (it was quite messy) but it was really fun! And look the pictures are nice!!!

Makeup Magic ✨💄

Hello again ❤️

It’s been a while but my schedule is now finally free which means more blog posts coming up! I’m going back to my  schedule of posting every Tuesday & Friday so stay tuned for my posts. Again, thank you to all of you guys who have been messaging me and commenting and liking my posts. I’m glad that I get to help you guys in the little ways I can 🙂

This is a whole new post for me! And definitely out of my comfort zone (like AAAHHHHHH) I’m very used to putting makeup on myself and posting about it BUT it’s a whole different ball game when I put makeup on other people and post about it. I was very nervous about doing this but I have a very good support system (hi friends <3) and they encouraged me to go for it! Plus, my three amazing models really gave me that push and inspired me to go through with it (Hi Justine, Erika and Helene!).

These makeup looks were actually inspired by blueREP’s 25th anniversary concert that took place last Saturday! These looks represent different numbers from different Broadway shows that we performed. I told each of my models to pick one number and that I would come up with a makeup look for it.

This is what I came up with! Again, I am fairly new at this and so I may not know all the tricks and tips yet but I’m getting there. Practice makes perfect and so if you’re game to model for me and don’t mind me touching your face lol hit me up! 🙂

By the way, these beautiful pictures were taken by my boyfriend, Boo Gabunada, who is an amazing photographer. We’re kinda trying out this MUA- Photographer tandem thing and I guess we’ll see where it goes hahaha

HOME – The Wiz (Justine Narciso)

Originally, for this number, we were told by our costume designer to wear pastel colors -pink, green, yellow, blue, purple but later on, they changed it BUT ANYWAY, this look was based on the first plan. For this makeup look, I wanted to incorporate a bunch of colors but I still wanted to keep it simple and elegant. For her lips, I chose purple lipstick cause what could be more pastel than purple lipstick??! For her eyes, I used shimmery pastel colors such as pink, purple, yellow and blue green and chose to focus all the color on the eyes. I like Justine’s eyes. I like how happy and full of life they look, especially when she smiles and so I was really happy that I got to do this look on her. To make this look a bit more striking, I decided to add a bit of “shiny thingys” which you see on the sides of her eyes. All in all, I think that Justine really pulled off this look: a look that’s bold but still simple and sweet.

WE DANCE – Once On This Island (Erika Rafael)

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I was really excited to do this look because it is simply perfect for Erika. I planned for my “Once On This Island” makeup look to be full of bright colors like purple, red and yellow. I wanted to give off that island tribe vibe and Erika’s look made the whole thing work out perfectly. Erika has beautiful brown skin which complemented the bold colors I used on her – I used red, purple and orange eyeshadow for her eyes and mixed in some yellow face paint to give it an accent. As for her lips, I wanted it to be really red but with a touch of gold (which you will see). I was going back and forth about the face paint but I decided to use it anyway and I’m glad I did. It gives off an ethnic tribe look which is what I was going for. With this look, she’s definitely ready to “dance to the earth and dance to the water”!

MAGIC TO DO – Pippin (Helene Enriquez)

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Our take on this musical number is pretty dark – as our musical director, Ejay Yatco described it, “it’s candy with a poison”. In this number, Helene plays a dark magician and so for this look, I wanted it to be quite dark but still pretty playful. I decided to play with the colors, red, black and blue. They can be fun colors but they can also be very dark. Helene’s face is actually quite innocent and so I wanted this makeup look to “break” that. And I think it kinda did. For her eyes, I used mostly red and gray shades and then I spilled out a bit of blue onto her face for a magical effect. I also added some glitter for a “magic touch”. As you can see there are only parts of this look that are really dark such as her lips, lashes and brows. I did this because I wanted her look to be bold but still fun. I did the bottom lash look for an extra “creepy” effect and made her lips pure black with a dab of red – which I really LOVE. In the end, she no longer looked like the “sweet innocent” Helene but this dark magician kinda like a darker Zatanna (if you know her from D.C. hahaha) I mean look at that creepy smile!!!
