New York, you’re a dream.

AHHHHH so today is the anniversary of my blog!!! ๐Ÿ’œ

And what better way to celebrate than to publish a post after sooooo long (I know it’s been ages ๐Ÿ˜…)

To be honest, the latter part of 2017 was very overwhelming. When I found out I got into the school I auditioned for and that I was finally moving to my dream city BLEW MY MIND. I had to prepareee!!!! Oh and if you haven’t caught on yet….

IM IN NEW YORKKKK!!!!!!!!! I’m living the dream and I am loving it, REALLY.

Ok so back to what I was talking about… Moving wasn’t easy. (physically or mentally). First of all, packing was a killer. Idk how ya’ll do it. I’ve always had a hard time packing for vacation and so you can just imagine how difficult it was for me to pack for my move. And mind you, I had to carry all those bags… as in ME (and my mom helped too). So I ended up cursing myself in my mind – “Kc why did you bring those shoes you dont need them!!!” “Kc what is up with all these jackets!!!!” “Kc WHYYYYY” hahahaha. In the end though, I was triumphant. All my things fit into my very small space and to be honest, I’m loving the tiny house vibes. I love that I have all I need in this tiny space. I don’t need more. It’s comfy and homey (and tbh it’s great cause NY is COOOOLDDDD and I love coming home to my warm tiny space)

This is one side of my room. My comfy bed and my stuffed animal friends!

I’m staying in Brooklyn Heights. It’s a beautiful neighborhood! The streets are gorgeous and this area is great! It’s near downtown Brooklyn and so there are many restaurants and stores and at the same time, it’s a train ride away from my school. So yay! Im living with one of my classmates, Luiza. She’s from Brazil and she’s lovely! We get along so well and I feel so lucky ๐Ÿ˜ญ

If you guys don’t know, I’m currently attending a musical theatre conservatory program in NYFA (New York Film Academy). It runs until September unless I decide to take the second year and stay another year.

So Orientation Week was AMAZING. We had all sorts of social events and insightful talks with the heads of our department. Our Creative Director is Kristy Cates! If you guys don’t know, she actually played Elphaba on Wicked for a while and she just finished Charlie and the Chocolate factory so that’s COOOL. For one of our social events, we went bowling in Times Square! I haven’t gone bowling in a while and so I wasn’t too great but I had fun nonetheless.

IMG_0722
Here’s a picture from the NYFA instagram! My friends Carly, Luiza (my roommate), Savanna and Kamilla say hellooo!

Our class consists of 9 girls from ALL OVER THE WORLD. Some from Brazil, Iceland, Colombia, Scotland, oh and Texas (hi carly ๐Ÿ˜‚) Everyone here is SOOO talented. We all have different voices and skillsets and I think that’s what makes everything so fun and interesting. Literally, the first few days of class, we each had to sing a part of a song to give the teachers a feel of our voices. And I couldn’t but admire everyone in that room. We all have a similar dream and we’re all here to learn and work on ourselves. I think it’s beautiful seeing someone work hard to do what they love. We’re in this together and I love how supportive we’ve been from the start.

IMG_0706

Aside from my classmates, my teachers are CRAZY talented. Most of them if not all have been on Broadway. I’ve been researching on each one and their credentials are AMAZING. I feel so honored to even be in their presence. And you know what I love even more??? How passionately they talk about their craft. Oh my God. They love what they’re doing. You can tell by the way they talk about their certain subject on the very first day of class. There is so much passion in their faces and voices, it’s just so admiring. Some of them, haven’t had it easy but they still continued because they love what they do. (And can I just say…. my jazz teacher was in Chicago the movie!!! She was the one who said “He ran into my knife! He ran into my knife 10 times!!!!” hahaha she’s amazing and the sweetest really) Anyway, one thing one of my teachers told us is that he wants to teach us in such a way that he is teaching us to be teachers. He wants us to teach others and to spread this amazing love for the Performing Arts and Musical Theatre and there’s nothing I wanna do more. I wanna learn all I can and bring home everything I can so that I can do my part and share what I’ve learned and my passion with others and the world.

This week I had my first week of classes which was already INTENSE. If you wanna know what I mean… I have to learn 4 songs, watch 3 musicals and answer some worksheets by next week. The workload is insane. Everyday there’s a new song to learn, a new dance to choreograph, a new monologue to memorize. But I am not complaining. Sure, 9-6 classes get tiring. 3 hour voice class? Yeah, it gets crazy. Dance classes back to back? DAMN I AM SORE. BUT AHHHH I AM SO HAPPY. I am crying as I type this!!!! Everyday I get to wake up and do what I love. I have been wanting this for years and now I get to live it. I miss home more than ever but I can’t help but feel this is where I belong. I love what I do. I love it so much. And I can’t wait to see where this takes me.

New York, you’re a dream.

Leadiiinglady Travels: San Francisco ๐ŸŒ

HI GUYS ๐ŸŒธ

Wow it’s been so long since I last posted ๐Ÿ˜ฆ To you guys who are still here checking out my blog posts, thank you so much. I’ve been really busy lately and things have come up here and there – and so it’s been difficult BUT no worries because I’m back and I will blogging a lot again for SURE ๐Ÿ’œ

This is another “Leadiiinglady Travels” post! This is part 1 of the 4 blog posts I’ll be writing about my USA trip. Tbh, it was amaziiing going back to my second home after a while plus I got news that I will be sharing with you guys very soon so stay tuned for that!

First up in this series, San Francisco! The first time I went to SF, I was about 7 and so I didn’t really remember much. But when I got here, I fell in love with the city INSTANTLY. It’s just so beautiful and picturesque. I could live here, I swear.

Anyway, my friend, Sam offered to show me and my friend, Melisse around the city since she literally goes here every year. Tbh, she was the BEST GUIDE EVER. We got to fit all of this in just ONE DAY. And it’s a lot! And so I’m soooo grateful. ๐Ÿ’œ

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

The streets, the lights, the sites (plus the shops hehe), everything about SF – I loved and so I am proud to share with you some of the wonderful things you could enjoy if you happen to visit this wonderful city! ๐Ÿ’›

SITES & ATTRACTIONS

The city is full of beautiful sites – from bridges to streets to buildings to walls. I’m telling you – you’ll want to stop at every corner to take an ootd shot with all the pretty walls.

Golden Gate Bridge

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Of course, first up on my list is Golden Gate bridge – you know, the famous bridge that always gets destroyed in movies. Anyway, this bridge is absolutely magnificent (and costs a LOT to maintain and repaint every year). This site is always pretty high on list of the must-see attractions in SF. I mean, it’s what they’re really famous for.

If you wanna take NICE pictures with the bridge, go to the Visitor’s center! They have a great viewing deck! Plus, it wasn’t crowded at all when I went!

PIER 39

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

If you’re going to visit a PIER, visit PIER 39!!! PIER 39 is filled with restaurants, shops and lots of entertainment. There’s just so much to see. You can go shopping for jewelry to clothes to pasalubong! And it also has such a great view of the bay (perfect for those ‘tourist’ shots ๐Ÿ˜‰)

BE WARNED THOUGH – this is a tourist area and so it’s pretty pricey here.

From this area, I also got to see the famous Alcatraz Prison from afar. I wasn’t able to go on a tour but I know you can take boats from the pier to visit the prison.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

This pier is also home to SEALS. I LOVE SEALS. Yeah, they’re pretty lazy and don’t move around much but they’re just so cute and fat and loveable. I WANNA SQUEEZE THEMMMM. Anyway, they’re kinda far away but if you look closely you’ll see them in the picture. (They’re lying down on one of the wooden platforms!!!)

LOMBARD STREET

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Here is a photo taken from the bottom. Lombard street is one of the steepest streets here. And so to ensure that no accidents will happen, they made the road like a zigzag so that cars will be forced to slow down. It’s a famous attraction because no one sees roads like this. They’re not common. And so I guess they officially made it a tourist site and added flowers and stairs on the sides so that people can check out and take pictures with the famous crooked road.

Here is a photo taken from the top of the street.

CASTRO District

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

So my friend, Sam, calls this the gay district and I can understand why. Everything here is pretty much rainbow colored and I LOVE IT. There are pride flags everywhere, the walls are painted different colors, even their pedestrian lanes are colorful!!!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Aside from all the colors, this is also called the gay district because of what’s here. There are gay bars everywhere as well as apparel stores for drag costumes and makeup. I bought these really cool lashes from one store and omg I can’t wait to show them to you guys. Safe to say, I absolutely loved it here.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

UNION SQUARE

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

If you guys wanna shop til you drop then go to Union Square. Here, there are sooo many shops – Macy’s (which pretty much has everything), H&M, Marshalls, Forever 21 etc etc etc. You won’t miss it because of this tall statue of a dude with a trident.

(look at that dude hiding from my camera hahahah)

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

GHIRARDELLI SQUARE

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

If you LOVE chocolate, go here! You won’t regret it. Apparently Ghirardelli is from San Francisco??? I didn’t know. Anyway, this place is filled with chocolate and their ice cream and milkshakes at their cafe are to DIE FOR. They look sooo yummy and are decorated perfectly! It’s a bit pricey but I think it’s worth it for sure.

FOOD

So, I’m not really a ‘foodie’ but I got to try a lot of good food in San Francisco and it has converted me completely. I am not adventurous at all when it comes to food which is kinda hard cause my boyfriend is (hahaha hi Boo) But when I got to SF, for some reason I decided to give it a shot and I’m really glad I did.

CLAM CHOWDER

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Sorry for the empty bowl HAHAHA I forgot to take a picture before eating it. THAT’S HOW GOOD IT WAS!!! And guess what?? This was my FIRST TIME EVER to try clam chowder and now I’m asking myself why I’ve never tried it before.

I got this Clam Chowder from Chowder’s. Sam said it’s really good here because it isn’t too clamy and not too ‘liquid-y’. It’s perfect. (ESP WITH THAT SOUR DOUGH BREAD) And she was right! (Plus it’s really affordable too!!!)

BEIGNETS

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

This is another one I’ve never tried. It’s a powdered pastry similar to a kind of bread but very thin and light with nothing inside. Funny right? BUT SO GOOD. It’s not too sweet, it’s just right. It does get a bit messy because of the powder but I think it makes it even more fun to eat. I got this from the Franciscan Crab Restaurant along the pier.

FORTUNE COOKIES

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Okay, so I have ALWAYS loved fortune cookies. It’s my favorite part of any Chinese restaurant. Whenever I’d go to a Chinese restaurant in the States, I would always make sure to get a fortune cookie and whatever fortune I found inside, I’d keep. And so you can just imagine how excited I was when actually got to see them being made. This lady here, it looked like making them was so easy for her. She just picked them up and put the fortune in and shaped them. And how cool is that machine???

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

COOKIE

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

This has got to be my favorite food stop. HOT COOKIEEE!!! They’re known for really yummy cookies and some, well, are a bit… erotic. Since this is kind of a once in a lifetime thing, I decided to be a little out there – I got a cookie shaped like a penis HAHAHAHA (my mom freaked out when she saw it btw) and guess what? I even got whipped cream on the tip! HAHAHA

All jokes aside, the cookie was really good. I can tell why this place is so popular – I mean, look at that wall.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I have no regrets coming to this place – none at all.

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

SF is filled with art like colorful walls and buildings to great entertainment like old-fashioned arcades. Again, this city is so picturesque and so don’t be surprised if your memory card gets full in just one day.

MUSร‰ร‰ Mร‰CANIQUE

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

This is one of the coolest places EVER. This is an arcade place filled with really old arcade games that you can still play with today. It’s amazing how they were taken care of and maintained. There are so many different ones. Some give predictions based on palm reading, some measure how ‘lovely’ you are, some are old puppet shows, some are even old dolls talking to you and making jokes (really scary but cool).

I wanted to try EVERYTHING in this arcade. Sadly, I didn’t have enough change. There are machines though to turn your 1, 5 and 10 dollar bills into quarters!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I even got to try the arm wrestling machine Julie Andrews played in Princess Diaries 1!!! IDK HOW SHE BEAT IT THOUGH. I lost, it was so hard ๐Ÿ˜ฆ hahaha

WALL & BUILDING ART

Like I said SF is filled with colorful walls. You’ll stop at every corner to take a picture – I did. And so go for it!!! It’s a great way to up your IG game! Plus it’s a great way to showcase the work of these unknown artists.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

The two photos above were taken in the Castro District. Look at that art! You can’t just pass by it and not take a picture. Plus they have the hashtags on the wall to credit the artist!

Aside from the artsy walls, there are also buildings with amazing art as you can see below.

It’s not uncommon to find beautiful sites like these in San Francisco and so take the time to appreciate the art all around you.

๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ

And so there you have it! My day in SF (Yes, I did this all in one day, it’s possible hahaha) Kudos to my amazing tour gu

ide/great friend, Sam Realica and of course my good friend, Melisse Yutuc for making this whole day full of fun and adventure ๐Ÿ’œ

Travel 101: My Must-Haves when Traveling โœˆ๏ธ

Soooooo I just got back from Guam!!! If you guys don’t know, I was actually born there and so it was pretty cool to go back after 22 years. I went with my best friend, Lizelle whom I have been friends with since I was kindergarten! She’s pretty much my travel buddy! It’s our lifelong dream to travel the world together. So far, we’ve been to Singapore, Japan, Spain, Canada and now Guam. Up next, USA??? Maybe ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ve been traveling a lot recently – last year I went to the U.S., New Zealand, Australia and Japan. I just love traveling! My love for traveling came about because I was exposed to it at a very young age. Traveling was and is still my family’s way of bonding. Every summer, we would go some place new. It’s something that I’ve always looked forward to! Now that I’m older, I not only get to travel with my family but with my friends as well – in April, I plan to go to Palawan, in June, I’m going on a roadtrip across the USA with my family and in August, my friend Bea and I are going to Korea (which I’m so excited for cause BEAUTY PRODUCTS AHHH) Anyway, those are just some of the few places I plan to go to this year but there are still so many on my list and I’m just hoping that I get to go to them all โค๏ธ

Anyway… do you need help packing for your next trip? Well, here is a list of my own MUST HAVES when traveling! This post is for all you young travelers out there! Travel 101: My Must Haves when Traveling!

1. PRETTY ORGANIZERS

Okay, so this is just my thing. I loveeee having pretty/witty/colorful cases with lots of personality – especially when I’m traveling. Because one, it lessens the chance of me mixing up some of my stuff with my friend’s things and two, it just makes everything much more fun for me! There’s just so much personality (especially with these specific cases) and it just really describes me as a person. I mean, what better way to describe yourself than with your travel organizers?

2. IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS

These are your passport, boarding pass, hotel reservation, credit card, cash, itinerary etc. These are very important when it comes to traveling. They’re the reason you can travel in the first place! When it comes to your passport, make sure you have an extra photocopy version with you at all times in case of emergencies or you could also take a picture of it with your phone. As for your cash, something I like to do is only take a certain amount with me and leave the rest in the SAFE in the hotel room. This allows me to budget my money (bahahaha) and in case someone steals my bag while I’m out *knocks on wood*, I still have extra cash back in the hotel room! When it comes to the itinerary, I like having an idea of what I want to do. On some days, I schedule trips and visits but on other days I like to just go out and explore and let my feet take me wherever! So this one is completely up to you!

3. CAMERA

I cannot travel without my camera. AS IN. This is a need!!!! I only got into photography in my third year of college but since then, I have always brought my camera with me everywhere. Some people ask me what camera I use for my blogposts and it’s my Canon 70D! I love Canon! I think they’re very user-friendly and they take quality pictures! My favorite form of photography though is portrait photography – and so I like taking pictures of people, animals, objects. I find landscape photography quite a challenge. I still have to master it but that doesn’t stop me from taking pictures of the beautiful places I get to visit.

4. GADGETS & CHARGERS

These are the important gadgets I need while traveling! These include my laptop, phone and powerbank! I usually bring my laptop during long trips because I have to transfer and edit pictures. A powerbank is something that is very useful but I always forget to bring one! Idk why I always forget but it’s a good thing my friend, Lizelle always brings two. She knows me so well!

5. COMFORT PILLOW & COMPANION

I ended up buying this purple pillow in the airport because I totally forgot mine (?) This is a need for me because I have such a hard time sleeping in the plane without this! Plus I get really bad neck pain. Good thing is you can get this almost anywhere and they come in a bunch of colors and designs! Aside from my pillow, I also like bringing my little companion which is a meaningful/important stuffed toy. I know, I’m such a child but I can’t leave home without one! This is Shao-Shao! Both my boyfriend and I have one hahaha and he’s been my little buddy for a while so I decided to bring him with me. I can’t sleep without Shap-Shao! Especially if I’m in an unfamiliar place.

6. MAKEUP KIT

This is my trusty makeup travel kit! This only has the makeup that I really NEED for the trip – so that’s my everyday foundation, concealer, powder, blush, lip stick etc. I don’t like bringing all my makeup with me especially when traveling cause there’s a risk I might lose something or there’s a risk that my carry-on bag may be a bit overweight hahahaha just so you know, this is the one I also carry with me in my bag when I got out for the day. They basically contain the same things! When packing your makeup travel kit, think about what you NEED and what you actually plan to use. That way you save space and weight!

7. CAP & SUNGLASSES

Going to a country with hot weather? You’re gonna need these two! I like brining a cap with me everywhere just cause I like wearing caps in general. I don’t bring it just cause it’ll be sunny hehe, I also bring it as a fashion statement – but it definitely is more than that. As for my sunglasses, I always make sure to bring at least one pair (which could go with any of my outfits). I have very sensitive eyes and so this is a must for me! I hate squinting plus it’ll give you fine lines so bring a pair! You might think you need more than one cause of the many different outfits you’ll wear but trust me, one is more than enough!

8. PLANNER

If you’re like me and you like writing down your plans for the day/memories, then do yourself a favor and bring a planner. I always bring my planner with me everywhere I go and so it’s convenient that my planner is tiny. (hi tiny Starbucks planner) I DO NOT like forgetting things and so I always make sure to fill up my planner. Especially when it comes to traveling, it helps me remember the places I explored, the people I met and the memories I made!

9. HARD DRIVE

I, for one, take A LOT of pictures. And that requires me to transfer them to my hard drive or else I will have no space. And so I always make sure to bring my hard drive with me whenever I go on trips! This makes it so much easier cause I don’t need to worry about limiting my pictures. I can just click away (which I love to do) hahaha Seagate has been the only brand for me since I got my first hard drive and it has made my life so much easier!!!! I cannot stress this enough!

10. SKINCARE PRODUCTS

Are you a skincare addict? Yeah, me too. This is another must for me. I need to bring my skincare products with me everywhere! I try to cut them down so my bag isn’t too heavy but sometimes I can’t help it. Here’s a tip though (which I didn’t do haahaha) buy small containers from Beabi (check that store out! They have the BEST ORGANIZERS) so that you don’t have to bring your full-sized products! I didn’t have time to buy and so I wasn’t able to do this but next time I will for sure! This will make things so much easier for you because one, your luggage won’t be as heavy (mine was heavy cause of all of these) and two, if you lose it, it’s KINDA fine since you have the actual product safe at home!

TADAAAA!

That’s it for my travel must bring post! What do you guys think I should add to this list?

I know it was pretty short. My schedule has been crazy lately but I promise you guys that I’ll come out with more posts next week! Stay tuned for my blog post about Guam as well as my SKINCARE HAUL POST next week! I’m sure you guys will enjoy it!!! ๐Ÿ’–

Leadiiinglady Travels: San Felipe, Zambales

Presenting, my first LL (leadiiinglady) Travels post! Enjoy ๐Ÿ’œ

Last January 28, I went on a day trip to San Felipe, Zambales with my best friend, Liz & my boyfriend, Boo.

Before that, Boo told me that he saw something on Facebook about going to Zambales for tree planting & meeting the tribes. It was from a page called MAD Travel PH – Tribes, Treks & Islands. I checked it out and saw that they had different kinds of packages. Some included an overnight stay in Circle Hostel, others included island hopping. But because of our busy schedules,we decided to go with the day trip package.

DCIM100GOPRO
(Liz- Boo- Me) My little adventure crew!

For this post, I will be telling you all about our trip to Zambales: our time with the Aetas and the adventures in between. Note: all pictures were taken and edited by me (except for the ones I’m in of course, they were taken by Boo) Ty btw to Liz and Boo for being the best models and greatest company โค

img_6424

We all met up and left Manila at 3am. It takes you around 4 hours to get there and we needed to be at the Circle Hostel, Zambales by 7:15 and so we decided to leave at that time.

Luckily it wasn’t that traffic and so we got there at exactly 7am.

img_6441
Sign in front of Circle Hostel!

I wasn’t able to take a picture inside so the sign will have to do. Circle Hostel pretty much looks like a giant hut. It is very quaint and the wood’s been painted with many different colors. I wasn’t able to explore the second floor and so I’ll tell you guys a bit about the first floor. The first floor is divided into two parts: the eating area and the sleeping & shower area. In the eating area, there are wooden tables and chairs to sit on. The sleeping quarters on the other hand are filled with hammocks to sleep on that they just fold up during the day time. It was pretty interesting. I haven’t seen anything like that before and so for sure, I’ll come back to experience an overnight stay here.

To get to the grounds where the trek started, we had to take a jeep and a car. I chose to ride the jeep. I love riding jeepneys for some reason! Swear. It was a pretty long ride, around 20-30 minutes before we got to the area where we would start the trek.

At first, it was mostly mud we were trekking on, surrounded by tall grassimg_6392img_6417

And then it became sand, a wide stretch of endless sand.

img_6391
Beautiful.

img_6402
Hi Liz & Boo

img_6387
Look at that view!

img_6418
Say hello to some of our guides.

From the get go, I could already tell that this was going to be a difficult but BEAUTIFUL trek. Yeah, the sand was pretty deep and it was hard to keep walking (esp with barely any hours of sleep) but the scenery captivated me and made every hard step worth it.

img_6390

img_6381

Say hello to our four-legged friend (and Manong- who doesn’t seem amused ๐Ÿ˜ž hahaha)

img_6422
The two were really excited for this picture with their new friend.

Throughout the trek we walked through sand, mud, and- water.

img_6395

img_6416

Note: If you decide to go on this trek, use either sandals, slippers or trekking shoes! Don’t use your nice rubber shoes because there is now way you can get through this trek without getting them super duper dirty.

After about an hour and a half of trekking, we all decided to take a dip. The water was so cold! It felt AMAZING. It was also crystal clear and so I really appreciated that (random fact about me: I don’t like dipping my feet when I can’t see what I’m stepping on hahaha)

img_6412

img_6410

Afterwards, we started on our trek again. BUT this time we got to ride on the carabao thingy which Lizelle really enjoyed, as you can see.

img_6409

img_6403

After 45 minutes, we finally got to our destination: the Aeta village.

*****Note: I wasn’t able to take a lot of pictures of the Aeta village because I chose to be interactive instead of behind the lens the whole time. I did take a few pictures though especially of the kids- they really enjoyed smiling for the camera.*****

When we got to the village, the people were very welcoming. They smiled at us as we passed by and the children were hiding behind the older ones wondering who we were but smiling nonetheless. (I think they were shy at the start but they eventually warmed up to us)

They served us ube chips and lemongrass tea for snacks. I don’t really eat ube but I decided to eat the chips out of courtesy and hey I actually really liked them! Also, they made it out of their local ube and so that’s pretty cool!

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take a picture of our lunch but for lunch they fed us fish, adobo, tinola and rice. I tried everything and they were all delicious. While we were eating, they kept asking me if I was okay, if the food was good and if I wanted more. They were very very very accommodating.

After lunch, we got to explore the village and the few activities they had. Some of us tried Archery with bows and arrows they made themselves while the others (including me) went to the classroom to interact with the children and read them books. We noticed that they would pick a random book and just skim through the pages. They didn’t understand the words. Unfortunately, I’m not very good at my Tagalog and so Boo decided to translate some books for them and the children enjoyed this very much.

img_6437
Selfie with all the kids!

The children were very happy and friendly and they loved smiling for the camera! Click away for a better look!

After the activities, the chief toured us around the village showing us different planting grounds, trees and huts. It was great because we got to learn a lot about their livelihood. Afterwards, they told us that they prepared a short program for us. First, one of the elders danced their “courtship dance”, she even pulled a few boys from the group to dance with her. Later on, the children performed a dance that mimics the actions of different animals. We were all having fun because everyone was so funny and game. There was a point during one of the dances when Boo and I both got pulled in and at first I was SUPER SHY cause I don’t dance but then someone went “You’re doing it!” and I was like OMG??? And then there. I got confident hahaha. For the last dance, they made it a bit of a “competition”. They would give flower crowns to those who danced the best. I got one so that must mean something right??? I really had a great time ๐Ÿ™‚

The next part of our adventure was tree planting! It’s the goal of the village as well as the people behind it (with Circle Hostel and Mad Travel PH) to save the rainforests in the Philippines. With the help of the indigenous tribes, they are working to plant as many trees as possible to benefit the land as well as the people who live in these areas. For this activity, we each brought with us two little trees to the tree planting grounds around 30 minutes away from the village.

img_6415
This little one wanted to join us. She brought her own little tree with her!

This was on our way to the tree planting grounds.

I am very happy with my plants.

At the tree planting grounds.

Tree planting grounds/nursery

We were all assigned to do different things. Some of us worked on uprooting the bigger trees from the nursery and transferring them outside, others worked on fixing the canopy on top of the nursery while some even worked on cleaning and maintaining the nursery.

(Here is Boo trying to figure out how to cut some branches off a tree since we needed extra wood for the little trees’ support.)

Here are our last few pictures from the trip!

Another picture I really like ๐Ÿ™‚

Afterwards, it was finally time to head home. As we were saying goodbye, the children smiled & waved and I couldn’t help but feel really happy that I got to spend the day with them. It’s the first time I’ve ever done something like this. (I’ve never met an indigenous tribe before) But for sure this experience will not be my last.

On our way back, we got to ride the carabao cart thingy again and for a while, I actually fell asleep. It was actually super comfortable!

After we got back to the town, we ended our adventure with a sunset by the beach.

Sunset by the beach to end the day.

All in all, this day was nothing short of wonderful. Never in a million years did I think I was going to be doing this. But now I’m thinking, why didn’t I do this sooner?

I’m just really glad I have someone who likes taking me on adventures to new places. (Hi Boo!)

Stay tuned for my next post which is “love-themed” for Valentine’s Day! For those who are single, in a relationship, ‘it’s complicated’ and even married! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ’–

Hello world โœจ it’s finally happening!

Who knew that a random, corny, silly excuse for a Twitter username would turn into this?

I started using the username ‘leadiiinglady’ for Twitter back in 2012. It was inspired by musical theatre which I am still very much into ’til this day. People used to ask me, “Why do you have three I’s?” and my response? Because ‘leadinglady’ was already taken and two ‘I’s’ felt incomplete. And so I went with three.

Ever since then, the nickname justย stuck to me. It’s become my instagram username, my email address & now, my blog. ‘Til this day, people know me for it. My friends know me for it. Evenย my family knows me for it.”Hey it’s leadiiinglady!” / “Hey leadinglady with three I’s!” hahaha and sooo now, it’s just… well, me.

That’s why, even before I created this blog, I already knew what was going to be shown up there in the title page of my very own site: leadiiinglady.

Call it cheesy or cliche but hey, it’s who I am. Sure, my life may not be that exciting compared to the others out there but I guessย that’s what makes me a bit different. In this blog, I am going to write about and share with you guys the simple joys that I experience everyday. Because in the end, those things are what make life count, what make life beautiful. And so get ready for postsย about all kinds of beauty, staying healthy, adventures near and far, as well as posts about the arts, both performing and visual.

Just maybe,ย through this blog, you’ll get to discover the simple joys in yourย everyday life. Because every day counts, and every day is worth living to the fullest. ๐Ÿ™‚
