It’s a “Worry-Free” Summer for You! 🌞

I, for one, love summer. I love going to the beach with my friends, having cook-outs with my family and pretty much lazing around under the sun.

There are times when it can turn out to be a complete disaster.

It can become such a hassle when your skin starts reacting negatively to all your summer activities. Oily skin? Irritated skin? Burnt skin? Ugh what a buzzkill.

But good thing I have some products to help keep my summer worry-free! And guess what? I got you covered! 😉

All you need is some faith, trust….. and well, a few products 😅

 1. Whamisa Organic Flowers/Apple Sebum Treatment

Among all of the products here, this is the newest one in my skincare routine but tbh, it found its place really quick. That’s how amazing it is!

This is a lotion that helps control the amount of sebum/oil on your face. All the ingredients are organic and thus this product seems to be suitable for sensitive skin (like mine). I have been using this for more than a few weeks now and I have been LOVING it so far!!!

The way I use it in my skincare routine is that I put it on after my essence because it can actually work as a light moisturizer (if you’re the dry type though, I’m not sure if it would be enough for you). I don’t spread it all over my face. I only spread it on my t-zone (cause I have combination skin).

So far, since I’ve been using it, I’ve had no breakouts whatsoever and my skin has been less oily than usual, especially on my t-zone!!! I used to use blotting papers after roughly an hour but now I have to blot maybe after three hours. (Yes I still have to blot BUT THAT’S NORMAL).

If the summer heat is making you oily like crazy, try this product out! You can buy it online from Althea Korea for P760!

2. Herbivore Lapis Balancing Facial Oil

Let’s talk about Facial oils. Yes I know, the topic sounds pretty scary especially for those with oily skin BUT do you know that it can actually make your skin even better WITHOUT making it super oily??? YES IT’S POSSIBLE.

Adding oil to your skin can actually stop the overproduction of your skins natural oil and help balance it out. THUS making your skin even better!

I recently just started using the Herbivore Lapis Oil and I’ve been seeing the difference already. I chose this because it’s especially formulated for combination/oily skin. The Blue Tansy in the formula helps by reducing redness and clarifying the complexion which is what I specifically need.

I’ve had a breakout recently because of “product x” (BLEH) and so I treated it with the oil and I was so amazed that the redness and irritation toned down by the time I woke up the next morning.

This summer, I say you switch to a facial oil (especially in this crazy heat!!!!). You will not regret it FOR SURE. There are so many different brands like Herbivore, Sunday Riley, Kypris and Drunk Elephant!!!

I bought this from Sephora Philippines for P1,316! I might buy the bigger one soon though so aaaahhh 🙈

3. Missha All Around Safe Block Satin Finish

I finally ran out of my Cosrx Aloe Sunblock and so I decided to try out another brand and I heard Missha’s sunblocks are really good and so I decided to buy one! I chose the satin finish cause I thought that was best for my combination skin.

So far, I’ve been really liking this sun cream. It doesn’t give me a heavy feeling at all plus there’s no greasy after feeling which I hate!!!

What I love about this cream is that it has a faint smell and it has a strong SPF of 50!!! I started using sunblock everyday late last year and it’s been an important product in my routine! I cannot leave the house without it! And so I’m really glad I found this product.

With this sunblock, I can have fun under the sun, worry-free! 😉

I bought my safe block from @thebbcreamshopph for P650!

4. Happy Skin Matte of My Dreams Oil Control Mattifying Powder

I’ve been looking for a powder which could help with my sebum control and when I heard people raving about this, I just had to try it!

It’s more of like pressed powder than loose powder and it comes in a translucent white shade so that it can work for anyone!

When I first tried this, I was kind of nervous that it wouldn’t work for me (cause I get oily like crazy) and I didn’t want my 💸💸💸 to go to waste. BUT luckily, it did just the job!!!

I used to have to blot 1 hour after putting on makeup but after using this powder, I only needed to blot THREE HOURS after which made a REALLY BIG DIFFERENCE. For us oily girls, we will always have to have blotting paper in our makeup bag BUT with this product, we won’t have to worry about buying as many packs as we usually do.

Happy Skin has never let me down and with this new product in the mix, working wonders for my skin, I am tempted to buy even more products!!!! Maybe that Matte Primer might do me good…. 😏

I bought my Mattifying Powder in the Happy Skin branch in Alabang for P1,299! (A bit pricey but definitely worth it!)

5. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater

Facial sprays are a must in my skincare routine. I was actually going back and forth about buying either this one, the Herbivore one or the Glossier one. But I settled for this one because of the (gentle) ingredients as well as the amazing reviews online.

I was actually pretty lucky because I got to try the travel size one for free since I got it (for free) after buying a bunch of Mario Badescu products.

Update on that travel size spray bottle… it is EMPTY. I have used it all up and wow do I love it. I usually use it after I put on my makeup as a setting spray (but not really). It IS NOT a setting spray and so it will not set your makeup/make your makeup last longer. But I use it as such because it gives me a dewy like look after a few sprays. I’m all for the dewy (NOT OILY) look over the matte look. It just looks way more natural.

Anyway, after using it, it gives me such a refreshing feeling. Which is why I also use it during the day when I’m feeling tired or hot hahaha (I filled up my travel sized bottle cause I bought a normal-sized one).

The rosewater and aloe in the formula leaves my face feeling calm and refreshed. Definitely a need this summer 😉

I bought mine in Rustans for P655 (which is actually pretty good!!!) They sell a lot of Mario Badescu products!

6. LUSH Sunny Day Anti Static Hair Detangler

I’ve had this product for a while and it’s been really helping with my frizzy hair. BUT I also found that it helps when my hair is super dry!!! My hair usually gets super dry during the summer because of the heat and so I wanted to find a product that would help leave it hydrated and feeling fresh.

Little did I know that I already had a product that would work for me. Let me make it clear, there’s a difference between oily hair and hydrated hair. Sometimes the heat can leave your hair dry or oily and it is important to NOT USE products that overproduce the amount of oil in your hair.

This product keeps my hair hydrated without making it look oily. In the end, my hair feels soft and “not tangled”. Which is the best feeling in the world especially for frizzy-haired girls like me.

So if you need something for your frizzy/dry/oily hair this summer, go to LUSH and try this out!!!

I bought mine in LUSH for P825!

That’s it for my post about products that’ll make your summer worry-free!!!! Hope this helped you guys out! 💛 Now you can go have fun in the sun at any time!!!

Night Time Routine Must-Haves! 🌙

Of course my blog wouldn’t be the same without reviews of some of my current favorite skincare products. I mean, that’s the whole reason why I came up with this blog in the first place! 😂

I know it’s been a while but here I am with a review (FINALLY) of some of the products I’ve been using for my evening skincare routine!

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

If you guys have noticed, the weather has been crazy these past few days! There are times when it’s too hot or when it’s too cold – it’s just been very “on & off” lately and so I’ve been adjusting my skincare routine A LOT to compensate for this crazy weather!!! BUT I’ve finally come up with a SOLID skincare routine that’s been going great so far and so I want to share with you guys some of the products that make it awesome!

For this blog post, I will be reviewing the STARS of my night time skincare routine!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

1. Heimish Cleansing Balm

I recently raved about this product in my previous blog post but I feel like I haven’t raved about it enough. This is one of my holy grail products! LIKE SERIOUSLY.

I’ve been getting really oily during the day time (cause of the weather) and it’s been making me feel absolutely icky and dirty – I just don’t like the feeling of having too much oil on my face. BUT this cleanser gets rid of all my worries because once I use it, my face feels squeaky clean AND hydrated at the same time.

Just a note though – it’s consistency is a bit more watery compared to that of Clean it Zero and so it may be a bit messier and may be a hassle for you guys but I personally like it because it makes it easier to lather all over my face!

To be honest, instead of repurchasing my nth (I’ve lost count) tub of Banila Co, I think I’ll be buying another tub of Heimish Cleansing Balm!!! It’s THAT good!

I bought this from the Skin Curator!!! Check out their instagram here!

2. DearKlairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner

After using the AHA/BHA Cosrx Clarifying Toner, I wanted a change. Not because the product was bad but because I believed that there was a better toner out there for me. And wow was I right!!!

The DearKlairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner is gentle yet effective! I love how it’s filled with natural ingredients instead of chemical ones. I especially love that it contains Centella Asiatica! I have just made a discovery that Centella Asiatica works wonders for my skin!!! It calms down my irritated skin especially when I’m beginning to get bad breakouts. Tbh, I consider it a good thing and bad thing that I discovered this because now I am hooked on buying all kinds of products with this ingredient 😅

((I ACTUALLY just bought the DearKlairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream and so stay tuned for a review very soon!!! 😉))

Anyway, this toner has been doing wonders for my skin! My skin doesn’t get all red like it used to and instead appears to be more calm! Plus my dry patches seem to be healing faster. I personally recommend this toner for those of you who have super sensitive skin (just like me) cause this definitely helps with that! Swear!

I bought this from Dara Beauty Market on Instagram! You can buy other Korean Beauty Products from there! Check it out!!!

3. Kiehl’s Breakout Control Blemish Treatment Facial Lotion

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

I’ve been looking for a product to help prevent breakouts BUT is safe to use everyday. Strong products like that nowadays tend to dry your skin, just like my Benzoyl Peroxide Cream that I still use BUT ONLY for trouble spots and not for everyday use!

At this time, I was looking around Kiehl’s and I saw this – it had me at “BREAKOUT CONTROL”! After reading about it, I was convinced to buy it right away BUT I wasn’t 100% sure if it would work for me and so I settled for 3 samples. And guess what? I used them all up AND LOVED IT. That’s when I said – “I need to buy the full-sized product!!!!!”

This lotion has definitely been keeping my bad breakouts at bay! Yeah, I did get the occasional zit here and there but not as bad as before. And you know what makes this product even better??? IT DOES NOT DRY UP MY SKIN. It doesn’t!!! (Maybe it’s cause I have oily skin but the thing is I do get dry patches and so the fact that I can use this without my skin drying up says something.)

ALSO, this lotion is very thin – I only use a pea-sized amount and after I apply it, my face doesn’t feel greasy. As a matter a fact, when I use it, it doesn’t feel like I’ve applied anything!

One iffy thing I would say though about this product is that it has a strong smell. It’s kinda like a strong herbal smell and so I’m not sure if some of you will like it but personally, I don’t mind it at all because it doesn’t linger.

I would recommend this product for those of you who have oily/combination skin. Not sure about those of you with dry skin cause daily use might not work for you! Use with caution 🙂

4. Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

I know, I know. I have a lot of moisturizers. But the thing is, I use them on different days. They’re the easiest to switch around! And I switch them around depending on the condition of my skin or the weather! The weather plays a big part when it comes to skincare. Some days, the heat makes us oily, on other days, the cold makes our skin dry. That’s why I’m always prepared for anything! Rain or shine, my moisturizers got me covered!

Recently though, I’ve been having problems with my combination skin. My t-zone would be oily BUT I would have dry patches on other parts of my face which really annoyed me. And the moisturizer I was using at that time made my t-zone oilier and made my dry patches more apparent!!!!! Talk about double blehhh. And so I needed to find a cream that would not “overmoisturize” my t-zone but at the same time hydrate my dry patches. And so I researched again and I found this wonderful product!!!!

This cream does exactly what I need it to do. It leaves my look NOT TO dewy and at the same time, it fixed my dry patches!!!! Plus this is another product that works to calm down my skin. After putting it on, I don’t feel greasy or heavy, I feel light and hydrated. My skin feels plump and looks just the right amount of dewy which is THE BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD.

For all you oily people with the same problem as me, this might be the cream for you! Warning: it’s pricey and the smell is strong BUT for me, the results it gives makes it all worth it!

I got this from BeautyMNL! Check it out here! Love love ❤

Coachella Fashion: Brave Heart, Free Spirit, Wild Style 🌸

Coachella Season.

One thing I love doing during Coachella season (since I can’t go there myself huhu) is looking at all the fashion outfits and makeup looks! Every year, there is always something new, something fresh, something different and I just love getting the inspiration for more looks!

This year I saw some really great looks and I thought hey, since I have a blog now why don’t I do my own Coachella x LeadiiingLady twist?!? HELL YEAH.

At first I was a bit hesitant to go for it because this is something really new to me. I haven’t posted a fashion blog post before nor have I posted a blog post with me actually modeling. But I thought about what I said in my previous blog post- that I can’t keep holding back because I’m insecure or afraid of what people might think. This is me being me, this is me expressing myself. This is something that I shouldn’t be ashamed of doing. And so after going back and forth, this post finally happened.

This is my first FASHION x MAKEUP POST and so please bear with me 😅 I’m not sure if I’m doing this right but hopefully I am! And if you enjoyed this post, please let me know in the comments section. That way, I can come up with better, more amazing posts for you guys in the future 💜

All fashion and makeup looks were done by me. All photos were taken by my amazing photographer/boyfriend, Boo Gabunada. Again, we’re trying out this MUA x Photographer tandem and it’s going REALLY WELL hehe and so I’ll be posting about a lot of more projects in the near future 😉

***NOTE: Some outfits/makeup looks were inspired by my favorite celebrities & bloggers at Coachella and so I’ll be posting their photos here for your reference!***

For this look, I wanted to go for a feminine, simple and pretty look. Basically – “a breath of fresh air”. Which is why I chose to keep the outfit candid by using a plain white off shoulder top (H&M), a denim jumper (Cotton On) and a pair of beat up white converse (Converse).

For the makeup look, I chose a different take by making my eyes colorful by adding blue, purple, green and yellow eyeshadow under my eyes. Can I just say, I used Hello Gorgeous PH‘s rainbow eyeshadow/highlighter and it is THE BEST. It’s sooo pigmented and the colors are beautiful! Plus it stayed on the whole time!!! Beautiful product indeed! As for my hair, I did a pigtail french braid but it’s not seen 😦 I braided my hair cause I wanted a playful young look in the mix and this hairstyle exhibits just that!

In all, I loved how my makeup complemented my outfit. It gave a lot more life to the look without overpowering it – in the end, I was able to go for that flower child look with a colorful twist.

Makeup used: Foundation – Etude House Double Lasting Foundation (Petal); Concealer – Fit Me Maybelline; Contour – Tony Moly Contour Stick; Powder – RCMA; Eyebrow – Clio Tattoo Killbrow (Dark Brown); Highlighter – Anastasia Glow Dip Palette; Blush – Glossier Cloud Paint (Dusk); Eyeshadow – Juvias (Nubian Palette), Naked 1 Palette, Lorac Pro Palette; (Under) Eyeshadow – Hello Gorgeous; Lipstick – Colourpop Lippe Stix (Brink)

This next outfit was inspired by one of my favorite bloggers/vloggers, Claudia Sulewski! When I saw what she wore to Coachella Day 1, I told myself I had to include this look! It’s very edgy, boyish and most of all, it doesn’t look like a Coachella outfit at all WHICH MADE ME WANT TO DO IT MORE. Like I said, I love seeing fresh, unique, new outfits and this was it!!!

If I had to choose any one of these outfits to actually wear out, it would be this one. The “boyish” side just calls to me hahaha! For this look, I chose a simple black tank top (Cotton On) and army pants (Cotton On) plus I decided to pair it with sneakers (F21) so that this outfit screams more than just “military!!!” As for my makeup, I used gold, bronze and dark brown for the colors of my eyeshadow and kept it simple with a reddish-ginger shade for my lips c/o my Kylie Liquid Lipstick in shade Ginger. I went for the same hairstyle as Claudia but since my hair is really short, it kept falling and so it ended up looking messier than planned (but tbh I think it made the whole thing looks better)

I love how the whole thing turned out. It had just the right amount of feminine in this boyish look.

MISS (3)

This next outfit was pretty much inspired by Kendall Jenner (her outfit in 2014) and another favorite blogger of mine, Griffin Arnlund (her outfit this year). I decided to mix up the two because I liked how my nude crochet top (@holyswimph) looked with my harem pants (from Cambodia). Plus I really love Kendall and Griffin’s fashion style!!!

IMG_9109 2

For this look, I wanted to go for a “pretty pink look” BUT with rainbow cheeks which is why I used the Hello Gorgeous Rainbow Highlighter again this time around but for my cheeks. (I didn’t want to make it too dark though and so I kept it pretty subtle.) As for my eyes, I added a bit more rose gold to the crease to kind of get that rosy look. My lips on the other hand were Revlon (Crimson) x Colourpop Metallic Liquid Lipstick (Maneater) because I wanted them to shine. For this look, I decided to keep my hair down and add a simple flower crown for that “girly” feel.

All in all, I think I ended up with this forest nymph fairy look with a touch of boho which I was happy with. The pictures though are a bit blurry 😦 cause this was the last set we took and we were losing light and so this was the best we could do. Hope you still like them though!

MISS (2)

Who doesn’t love Vanessa Hudgens? She is the QUEEN of Coachella. And so this post wouldn’t be complete without recreating one of her best looks! I decided to go with one of the looks she did back in Coachella 2014. I loved this look! It was everything: edgy, girly, boho, summery, floral, etc!!! I tried my best to recreate this look with, of course, my own twist and I *think* it ended up looking good!

IMG_9097 2

IMG_9100 2

My plan for this look was to channel my inner boho! I bought this dress before from Forever 21 but haven’t found the perfect time to use it UNTIL NOW. I also added a black lacey bra under for an extra “hmph” like what Vanessa did with her outfit! The boots are my mom’s (hahaha thanks mom) and as for the hat, I bought it from Cotton On! I chose “boho” accessories to use such as feathers (from Taiwan), chokers, colorful hoop earrings and those “circle shades”.

On the other hand, my makeup stayed pretty simple. All I did was darken my eyebrows a bit more and color my lips a darker shade of red (Revlon Crimson x MAC Paramount). I did this cause I wanted those features to pop. Just a note: when it comes to quick-changing makeup, best to focus on your lips and eyebrows. They only take a short time to fix PLUS they make a HUGE difference! As for my hair, I decided to keep it in a messy halfpony so that it wouldn’t be too “big” under the hat.

MISS (1)

But wait! This Coachella post wouldn’t be complete without a look from Vanessa’s best friend, Ashley!!! Again, this is a totally different lookdenim on denim, baby!!! I love denim. It’s my go-to fashion piece when I’m in a hurry or can’t think of anything else to wear. When all else fails, go denim. ANYWAY, I thought this look was really cool and different from the rest which is why I chose to include it in this post.

For my outfit, I chose a black crop top (Cotton On) under to kind of cancel out all the denim. My denim jacket is from H&M while my BEAUTIFUL pants are from a thrift shop in the States. I’ve had these pants for years but I never wore them out and now I wonder WHYYYY??? because they are beautiful and the details are exquisite! Definitely wearing this out soon! Added a hat from Cotton On and wore high-heeled boots from Forever 21!

This is one of those looks which I spent a long while on hahaha for my makeup, I chose to keep my eyes dark with a bit of bronze for the under part. And if you noticed, I also added bronze dots above my eyebrow line. I would have wanted this to be jewel beads but I couldn’t find any 😦 and so that’s for another post, for sure!!! I used Juvia’s Nubian palette for this because it is SUPER pigmented!!! The color just sticks and so I had no problem making this look.

And omg is that a nose ring I see??? Hahaha dont worry mom, it’s fake hahaha I’m really into the nose ring look right now that I ordered a few from Armstrong and Smith! Their designs are really cute! You should check them out!!! My dream catcher necklace is actually from Boo! It’s from Taiwan! It’s a bit too big to wear to “normal” outings but I decided to wear it here cause it fit the occasion. AND who could miss my “eye” earring!!! Love this piece. It’s very edgy and unique and so I knew that it would go perfect with this outfit!

All in all, this was a super fun look to do! I enjoyed going out of my comfort zone and shooting this!!!

TADAAAAA so that’s what I’ve been working on for the past week!!! 💗 This has been such a fun blog post to shoot and prepare for! It’s way out of my comfort zone especially the fashion part because I have not yet posted a “fashion blog post” – I feel iffy about my style. But after writing that post about embracing and appreciating onself, I decided, what the hell, this is my way of expressing myself! And in the end, I’m proud of this. And I’m proud of myself.

Since I really enjoyed doing this post, stay tuned for way more makeup and fashion shoots coming your way!!! Embracing your Beauty Marks; Appreciating Oneself More

I’ve been meaning to post this for a while but it’s been difficult for me to finish it. This is due to many reasons: One, I didn’t know how to write this (I kept thinking, what do I say first? Should I be open about everything? What am I trying to say here?) but soon I decided to not think about those things and just let my thoughts flow and my hands, write. Two, I was hesitant to post this (What’s the point when no one will listen? Will my voice even be heard? Is this post just a rant for me? A way to let things out?) No, I decided to post this for those who may be going through the same thing as I am. And three, I kept asking myself, will this make a difference? (at the end of the day, am I doing good?) Even after I’ve posted this, I’m still asking myself that question but hopefully soon, I’ll know the answer.

Before we get to it, I am warning you guys that this post is quite long. It’s all words and so it might be difficult to get through but hopefully, if you choose to continue reading, you’ll get more out of it than just plain words on a blog post. This is something very personal. I’ve poured my whole heart and soul into each and every word and as a result unmasked my insecurities and fears. It was hard but I’m just hoping that all of this, in the end, will be worth it.

Okay, here we go.

To you who might be reading this,

Let me just start by saying, “no one’s perfect”. As cliché as that statement is, it is true. No one is perfect. But there are people who wish they were, who twist their minds into thinking perfection is the aim, who believe that they can only be happy once they have it – and if I am being completely honest here, I used to be one of them. I’d look at myself, with such hate and disgust because what I saw in the mirror wasn’t perfection but the exact opposite. And so what did I do? I pretended. I tried so hard to trick myself into thinking, ‘my life is perfect’… I’m not gonna lie. I’m about as insecure as it gets. Even about the littlest things. And what would I do about them? Face them? Accept them? god no. I was a coward. I hid them. I denied them. I acted like they didn’t exist. And everything seemed to be going fine until one day, it finally hit me. Because ‘pretending’, I realized, can only get you so far. Recently, I had a breakdown, a big one. I just couldn’t keep everything under control. The imperfections were slowly showing. My insecurities were creeping up. And I broke. I don’t know, maybe it was my anxiety, maybe I was finally tired of wearing a facade.

But that’s when I said, no. I don’t want to be that person anymore.

I don’t want to be insecure my whole life. I don’t want to be afraid of imperfection. I don’t want my insecurities and imperfections to make me weak. No. I want to embrace them. I want them to make me strong. I want to stand by them and be able to shout, “Yes! That’s me!” I guess that’s one reason why I made this blog in the first place. Do I have perfect skin? No. Do I have a perfect body? No. Do I have a perfect life? Hell no. Then why write about it and share it with the world? Because it is still MY skin, MY body, MY life and God knows I should be proud of all of that. And so with this blog, I want to inspire those who feel that they’re not good enough to post pictures or write about their passions or everyday lives. So what if you don’t have enough cash to travel every weekend to post about it? So what if you’re not the most popular girl on the block? So what if you don’t have flawless skin or a sexy body? So what? I mean, ask yourself “would having all that make you a better person?”

Okay, first thing’s first, let’s delve deeper into the topic of being “physically attractive”. Do you have those days when you just wish God could’ve given you better skin? Yeah? Well, same, I’ve been there. There were times when I’d wake up in the morning and spend ten minutes staring in the mirror, ready to burst into tears. Perfect skin? What’s that??? Nope, don’t have it. Not even close. Never. I have far from perfect skin and to be honest, I don’t even remember how much money I’ve spent on treatments and products to end my problems with acne, dark spots and all of that. Did you know that I used to not want to leave my house if I didn’t have at least some makeup on? Yeah, that bad. I hid my blemishes and my scars and it was so obvious that I was trying so hard to do so. Cause the truth is, you can’t just cover them up and pretend they’re not there. Cause they are. You see it and other people see it. No matter how much foundation or concealer you have on. I learned that the hard way. My parents used to tell me, “Why don’t you stop wearing makeup and just let your skin breathe?” You know what I said? “No, it’s fine. I don’t want people to see all my blemishes and marks”. And guess what? That just made the whole problem worse. I realized it when it was too late. And now I have a lot more scars and dark spots. All because I chose to be stubborn. I couldn’t help it. I was embarrassed. But now I choose not to see them as something negative anymore. I choose to see them as beauty marks. Because they make me, me. I choose now to accept them and consider them as reminders of what I went through when I was younger and that I got through it. Today, some followers message me, “how do I get rid of my acne?” or “how do I lighten my scars” or “how do I make my skin look better?” And I always tell them that I don’t know the answer cause I haven’t figured it out yet. But what do I do? I choose to take care of my skin. I choose to love my skin. Although my face isn’t ‘flawless’, I feel good because I know that I am taking good care of my skin – and that makes me happy.

“Okay, how about your body, KC? I mean, you don’t have a right to feel bad, you’re not fat.” Yeah, I’m not on the heavy side – not even close. But do those comments make me feel better about myself? No. Growing up, I’ve always been conscious of my weight. Because I had a hard time gaining. I am underweight – I feel scrawny – I look ‘too thin’. People used to give me comments like “Omg KC, you’re so skinny!” and “Oh do your boobs even exist???” And as much as I laughed at those statements, they did sting. Because my body wasn’t something I was proud of. Aside from my weight, I was conscious about other parts of my body, such as my back. When I was younger, I used to get really bad rashes and I scratched them a lot which led to me growing up with dark marks all over. This sucked big time. I would look at other girls in backless swimsuits with flawless bodies and think, “Why couldn’t I have looked like that?”. Tbh, it took me so long to actually feel confident in a swimsuit – so long (and today, I’m still not even 100% confident). I used to try so hard to cover myself up, to dodge people’s comments/reactions, to not care. But that didn’t change anything.

All these imperfections have been plaguing me my whole life that it came to a point when I felt hopeless, helpless and most of all, ugly. I felt so f*cking ugly. I’d wake up feeling terrible about myself and that eventually led me to completely stop caring about myself. Really. There was a time when I didn’t care about how I looked, I didn’t care about how I dressed, I didn’t care about myself at all.

And that’s when my anxiety started kicking in. I got conscious about the littlest things. I felt insecure all the time to the point that I would push loved ones away because I would take out all my anger and frustrations out on them. Soon, I was also ‘mentally imperfect’. I no longer had this positive radiance that KC Kane used to have. No. I was empty inside. I remember breaking down countless times in the middle of the night. I remember pulling my hair and punching walls out of frustration, anger and sadness. I remember asking myself, “Kc, why couldn’t you have been better?” Bottom line: I was a mess.

Until I finally looked in the mirror and saw a sad girl wasting her whole damn life.

I’ll admit, my life is not perfect. Yet I can’t deny that there are so many things that are great about it: I come from a family who loves me and shows it every single day, I have a home – a room to call my own, I was able to go to school and graduate college, I have a boyfriend who makes me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world and I have true friends who support me and cheer me on even on the shittiest of days.

It got me thinking, how could I let all of them down like that?

But most of all, how could I let myself down like that?

And so, this is for all of you who are going through the same thing right now, struggling in this difficult world trying so hard to hide your imperfections and insecurities: Embrace yourself. Cherish yourself. Love yourself. No one is perfect. No one is supposed to be.

Here are some things I learned going through all of that that I’d like for all of you to keep in mind:

One, don’t let social media rule your life. Social media tends to corrupt our minds into thinking, “Wow look at her Instagram feed! Her life must be perfect!” or “He has such nice skin, what could possibly go wrong with his life?”. The truth is, everyone struggles with their own demons every single day, no matter how happy their tweets are or how beautiful their Instagram feed is. Don’t let social media be the judge of how you see people but most of all, don’t let it be the judge of how you see yourself.

Two, haters gotta hate. Enjoying life but haters got you down? Tbh, there will always be haters. Someone once told me, “When you have haters, that’s a sign you’re doing great in life. They’re just hating on you cause they’re jealous.” And that has always stuck to me. Haters will always be there – even in people who you call “friends”. There will always be a tweet, a facebook post, an instagram story bashing you and your happiness. And so, here’s a bit of advice on how to deal with them, don’t stoop down to their level and bash them back. Instead, thank them. You know why? Because at the end of the day, they make you strive to become a better person. They’re hating on all the good you’re doing with your life – Good. Do more. When they bash you and hate on you, use that to be better. Use that to fuel you. And in the end, they will no longer be your haters but reminders of what you’ve overcome and how much of a stronger and better person you are now – because of them. Ironic isn’t it? Just like your insecurities, don’t let them control you. Succumbing to your haters and your insecurities gives them the power to measure your worth and honestly who are they to say how much you’re worth? You are the one in charge. You’re the one who calls the shots. You write your own story. Just you and you alone.

Three, at the end of the day always choose to love yourself and appreciate yourself as a person. That’s a beautiful word, “appreciate”. Perfection isn’t the goal. Appreciation is. Living isn’t easy. Sometimes it gets so f*cking hard. But you know what? You’re still here. And that means something. That is being brave. You just don’t give yourself enough credit for it. Appreciate yourself, please. You’ve come so far and many of you, just like me, are only getting started. We all have one life to live. It’s time to make the most out of it.

Someone once told me to “Rise & Shine: Rise above everything that brings you down and let the best parts of you shine.” Here’s to hoping after reading this, you continue to shine bright! Because you are a beautiful human being.

Tbh, it feels good to have had said all that after everything I’ve gone through. This post is going to serve as my reminder that I am choosing to embrace myself: imperfections, insecurities and all. This will be my reminder that I have changed my way of thinking and the way I look at myself and that I am not going to look bad and treat myself as I had before.

As I am ending this, I have to admit that the road I’m on won’t be easy. I haven’t figured it all out yet. I’m still not as confident as I want to be and I still don’t appreciate myself as much as I should but I know, in time, I’ll get there.

And so will you.

Glossier Love 💕☁️🌸

Hi guys! 🌈

So I’m squeezing in this short review of the Glossier products I have right now cause people have been asking me about them and soooooo, here you go! ❤️ To those contemplating whether on spending on these Glossier products, I hope this helps you out! 🙂

The current products I have right now are the Glossier Priming Moisturizer and two Cloud Paints: Haze & Dusk! I’m still waiting for my boy brow which I can’t wait to try!!!

Glossier Priming Moisturizer

Bottom line: I love this primer. It’s the best one for me so far! It’s not heavy at all and the best part is, it really moisturizes. I get really dry skin sometimes depending on the weather and so it’s great to have a primer that hydrates my skin.

I wasn’t able to take a picture (huhu) but so you guys know, it has quite a slippery texture – and it has a white color (kinda looks like Johnson’s baby lotion). It’s not super thick and so it’s easy to spread. I usually use a pea sized amount for my everyday makeup look but for days that require heavier makeup, I use a bit more!

What I also like about this priming moisturizer, is that it helps my makeup stay longer but doesn’t leave it looking “patchy”. It ends up giving me a dewy look which I super loveeeee. I just have to use blotting paper sometimes but it’s ok, I always have one in my bag anyway.

And so if you guys want a primer that isn’t too heavy, moisturizes your skin and that is good for everyday use, this could be it for you!

It’s $25, a bit pricey but I’d like to think it’s worth it!

Glossier Cloud Paint

I was never really into liquid blush but this here is definitely a game changer! I love the natural look and so you can just imagine how obsessed I got with this product. It gives off the PERFECT natural look! The paint isn’t too heavy or too light, it’s just right. Plus, I love the variety of colors they have! I only ordered 2 though but to be honest, because of how much I love them, I’m thinking of getting the other two aaaahhhhh 🙈 They’re $18 each and $30 of you buy 2!

Dusk is the perfect pinkish nude color. It’s very natural-looking and perfect for your everyday look. I like using peach blush as compared to pink blush and so when I saw this color, I knew I had to get it! It gives me that rosy look but not the pink kind of rosy look, the orange-ish kind, if you guys know what I mean. I like using this color with dark lipstick shades to contrast the light blush.

Here are some of the shots I took with Dusk so that you can see what it looks like on a human person hahaha (btw I’m using the priming moisturizer as my base)

As you can see, it gives me a bright “peachy” look and I like how it complements my red lips and dark brows. Can you guys see the swatch on my arm??? If you do, you’ll see how pink nude it is and how PRETTY it is ❤️

To be honest, I was a bit hesitant at first to buy Haze. I was debating between getting either Haze or Puff! I was afraid that Haze would look to dark on me but I super loved the color and so I decided to buy it anyway and just figure it out later on. Luckily, it looks beautiful on light-skinned people too!!! It gives that flushed pink look that you usually get after a great workout which makes me feel really good hahaha I like pairing it up with nude lipsticks to kind of contrast the dark pink pigment on my cheeks.

It is not as subtle as Dusk but it’s still natural looking – just a bit more on the pink side. I don’t usually wear pink blush but I like how this looks on me. It’s not too pink, it’s just right. Just be careful though not to put too much! That actually goes for all the cloud paints! LESS IS MORE. Also, it’s a pretty tiny tube so I’m sure you guys would want to make it last!

(Please don’t mind my “not threaded” eyebrows and my eyebags and all the flaws hahaha it’s me trying to be confident in my own skin 😅)

I bought these on Makeup Depot! Check out their Instagram here! You can buy these products also on the Glossier site! 🙂

Anyway that’s it for this review! I have yet to review my other glossier products and so stay tuned for that! Also, stay tuned for a very special post coming out next week 💖 Again, keep your messages and comments comin’!!!! I am reading every one of them ❤️ Happy Easter guys!!!! ☺️

This Summer, Rock that Frizz! 🙆🏻

Who here has had frizzy hair all their life? 🙋🏻🙋🏽🙋🏼

Well, welcome to the club! I’ve had frizzy hair for as long as I can remember and since then, it’s been a roller coaster ride, going from one product to another, trying to tame my curls. But throughout the years, I realized, why tame them when you can embrace them? That’s right! Don’t go through the hassle of straightening your hair out every single morning with some hairspray or mousse. Instead, enhance your curls! Make them standout! Make them BONGGA!!!!!

Okay, I get that frizzy hair can be a hassle especially during summer time (I MEAN THIS HEAT IS KILLER) BUT that’s why, I’m here to share with you guys a few products that I’ve been using a lot, to help you rock your curls without having to worry about yourself looking like a caveman (hahahahaha it’s true doe)

Okay, so here are a few of my favorite products for all my “frizzy-friends” out there!!!

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

1. LUSH R&B Hair Moisturizer

This is one of my favorites. Ever. First of all, it smells amazing!!! It smells refreshing and sweet but not too sweet if you know what I mean. This is actually my second tub! Yeah, I know, it’s a bit pricey (P975 from LUSH) but me getting another tub just proves that this stuff actually works! What this product does is that it moisturizes your hair and scalp. The problem sometimes with frizzy hair is that it can get dry really easy and so it’s great to have something that can hydrate and quench your curls, especially during the excruciating heat of summertime!

What I like about this product is that even though it feels a bit thick, it’s not so heavy. It’s actually pretty light! (Just don’t use too much product! This goes for all the products I mention!) Sometimes, it may feel like you didn’t put enough even after your hair is already full of product. Just relax! It takes time for the products to take effect, you won’t see it right away especially if your hair is wet!

Also, one tub can last you a long time! And so it ends up becoming “sulit” for me. When I use R&B hair moisturizer, my hair is instantly moisturized. This doesn’t necessarily define my curls per say but it definitely prevents my hair from going back to its frizzy dry self.

2. Beach Born Sea Salt Spray

This is the most affordable sea salt spray I ever purchased! It’s only P180 from Beach Born PH. You can check out their Instagram here! What I like about this spray is that it makes me feel like I’ve just come from the beach, even though I’ve literally just come out of my shower. It has a very sea salty sweet smell which I personally like!

Some like applying this after curling their hair but personally, I like applying this right after I shower because it helps define my curls more as they dry without my hair becoming too frizzy! Caution though, don’t put too much, because it can cause your hair to become hard and sticky. And so just take it easy! Just spray your hair a few times and use your hands to crunch up your curls to help define them more! And I swear you’ll look good!

3. 2 Chic Avocado and Olive Oil Anti-Frizz Serum Oil

This is a product I would recommend for those of you who have crazy frizzy hair. Like small curls kind of frizzy. Because this works to calm them down. To be honest, this is an okay product for me because I’m not too crazy about oil products – they just make my hair too oily and so I don’t like using them much. BUT this product can work if you have really dry hair since this product helps hydrate your frizzy hair to prevent it from becoming frizzy.

This product is from Healthy Options and so it’s a bit pricey. This isn’t a bad product but I don’t think I’ll repurchase, at least not for the price. It’s just not for me and my hair. But hey, if your hair is extra dry and you need some serum/oil to fix it up, this could be the one for you!

4. Not Your Mother’s Kinky Moves Curl Defining Cream

This is my favorite among all these products. And this is the latest product I’ve tried. I actually bought this while I was in Guam. And I’ve been loving it ever since!!! It’s just perfect for my hair. The way I like my hair to be is not too frizzy but not too curly either. I like natural waves -and when I tried this product, I got just that. And the smell is so good!!!! It’s grape seed and jasmine extract! HEAVEN.

Anyway, I like putting this on right after I wash my hair cause that’s when it’s most effective. I only put a bit! Afterwards, I finger comb my hair and crunch my curls up to define them more. After my hair dries, it leaves no kind of residue. My hair isn’t sticky. My hair isn’t too oily. It’s just right. The only thing it leaves behind is a lovely scent! I recommend this product for those of you who want to enhance their curls but want a natural kind of look! I don’t know where you can buy this in the Philippines but I’ll let you guys know if I do! If you’re abroad and have the chance, go buy it! You’ll love it, I swear!

5. LUSH Sunny Day Anti Static Hair Detangler

I like this product because it really helps detangle my hair. I’m one of those girls that don’t brush their hair – because if I do, my hair will become really frizzy. And so I finger-comb it. This though results in many tangles and so it’s great for me to have a hair detangler on hand to help with that! And so far, this has been it for me!

It has a Jasmine Citrus-sy scent. It smell fresh which I like. After showering, I like to spray a bit on my hair before applying my hair defining cream! Don’t put too much though or else your hair will get hard and sticky! Just spray a few times and leave it at that! That’s when you finger-comb your hair. As long as you don’t use too much product at one time, it’ll work for you! Also, this product is a bit pricey, it costs P825 at LUSH BUT the bottle lasts for a while (if you use it properly) and so it ends up becoming worth it for me.

So there! Those are 5 products that I think can help you and your frizzy hair out this summer! Frizzy hair can be a hassle for some of you, but embrace it! Learn to love it! You are so lucky to have hair with such volume. You’d be surprised as to how many girls want that kind of hair. So many girls nowadays go through the hassle of curling their hair every single day. For us, all we need to do is put on a little product and BOOM beautiful voluminous hair! And so take care of your hair this summer, girls! Don’t ever ever take your beautiful hair for granted! Now, go out in the sun & have some fun! 🌞

Makeup Magic ✨💄

Hello again ❤️

It’s been a while but my schedule is now finally free which means more blog posts coming up! I’m going back to my  schedule of posting every Tuesday & Friday so stay tuned for my posts. Again, thank you to all of you guys who have been messaging me and commenting and liking my posts. I’m glad that I get to help you guys in the little ways I can 🙂

This is a whole new post for me! And definitely out of my comfort zone (like AAAHHHHHH) I’m very used to putting makeup on myself and posting about it BUT it’s a whole different ball game when I put makeup on other people and post about it. I was very nervous about doing this but I have a very good support system (hi friends <3) and they encouraged me to go for it! Plus, my three amazing models really gave me that push and inspired me to go through with it (Hi Justine, Erika and Helene!).

These makeup looks were actually inspired by blueREP’s 25th anniversary concert that took place last Saturday! These looks represent different numbers from different Broadway shows that we performed. I told each of my models to pick one number and that I would come up with a makeup look for it.

This is what I came up with! Again, I am fairly new at this and so I may not know all the tricks and tips yet but I’m getting there. Practice makes perfect and so if you’re game to model for me and don’t mind me touching your face lol hit me up! 🙂

By the way, these beautiful pictures were taken by my boyfriend, Boo Gabunada, who is an amazing photographer. We’re kinda trying out this MUA- Photographer tandem thing and I guess we’ll see where it goes hahaha

HOME – The Wiz (Justine Narciso)

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Originally, for this number, we were told by our costume designer to wear pastel colors -pink, green, yellow, blue, purple but later on, they changed it BUT ANYWAY, this look was based on the first plan. For this makeup look, I wanted to incorporate a bunch of colors but I still wanted to keep it simple and elegant. For her lips, I chose purple lipstick cause what could be more pastel than purple lipstick??! For her eyes, I used shimmery pastel colors such as pink, purple, yellow and blue green and chose to focus all the color on the eyes. I like Justine’s eyes. I like how happy and full of life they look, especially when she smiles and so I was really happy that I got to do this look on her. To make this look a bit more striking, I decided to add a bit of “shiny thingys” which you see on the sides of her eyes. All in all, I think that Justine really pulled off this look: a look that’s bold but still simple and sweet.

WE DANCE – Once On This Island (Erika Rafael)

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I was really excited to do this look because it is simply perfect for Erika. I planned for my “Once On This Island” makeup look to be full of bright colors like purple, red and yellow. I wanted to give off that island tribe vibe and Erika’s look made the whole thing work out perfectly. Erika has beautiful brown skin which complemented the bold colors I used on her – I used red, purple and orange eyeshadow for her eyes and mixed in some yellow face paint to give it an accent. As for her lips, I wanted it to be really red but with a touch of gold (which you will see). I was going back and forth about the face paint but I decided to use it anyway and I’m glad I did. It gives off an ethnic tribe look which is what I was going for. With this look, she’s definitely ready to “dance to the earth and dance to the water”!

MAGIC TO DO – Pippin (Helene Enriquez)

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Our take on this musical number is pretty dark – as our musical director, Ejay Yatco described it, “it’s candy with a poison”. In this number, Helene plays a dark magician and so for this look, I wanted it to be quite dark but still pretty playful. I decided to play with the colors, red, black and blue. They can be fun colors but they can also be very dark. Helene’s face is actually quite innocent and so I wanted this makeup look to “break” that. And I think it kinda did. For her eyes, I used mostly red and gray shades and then I spilled out a bit of blue onto her face for a magical effect. I also added some glitter for a “magic touch”. As you can see there are only parts of this look that are really dark such as her lips, lashes and brows. I did this because I wanted her look to be bold but still fun. I did the bottom lash look for an extra “creepy” effect and made her lips pure black with a dab of red – which I really LOVE. In the end, she no longer looked like the “sweet innocent” Helene but this dark magician kinda like a darker Zatanna (if you know her from D.C. hahaha) I mean look at that creepy smile!!!

AAAAHHHHHHHH Well, there you go ❤️ This actually happened 🙂 I’m really happy I finally got the courage to try this out! I had so much fun doing it, especially because of the company! So shoutout to Justine, Erika and Helene for being such great and fun models and to Boo, for being an amazing photographer! Like I said, practice makes perfect and so I’m planning more shoots like this! And so if you guys are game to model for me, hit me up! It would mean a LOT
